Overcome EDB Corruption Due to Compressed NTFS Volume

Disk compression is a technique to reduce disk space over a particular hard disk volume, file or folder. Compression done on NTFS volumes is called NTFS compression. It allows you to compress hard disk volume or files for reducing the need of hard disk space. However, in some cases compressed NTFS volume may result in EDB corruption which may cause loss of your precious data. Severe effects of NTFS corruption has been found with Microsoft Exchange Server Information store which is basically a repository of user mailboxes and important data. Information Store Service is the basic component of Exchange server, which may get corrupted due to compressed NTFS volume.

Different types of users log onto the Exchange server simultaneously. This configuration allows the user requests and as such it should not be merged in the NTFS partition. Compressed NTFS volume could not manage heavy write traffic and as such do not support completely loaded servers. Exchange server writes data to the log files before it is written to the disk which supports transaction logging. If user have configured the files to be written on NTFS volume and Exchange server modifies the data with the help of mapped section, corruption may arise. Insufficient usage of CPU may also create problems, in case Exchange server is using compressed NTFS volumes.

If EDB files gets corrupted due to any of the reason, it becomes necessary to perform EDB recovery. There is a inbuilt utility known as Eseutil, provided by Exchange server for overcoming EDB corruption. However, in some cases it fails and removes such pages which is beyond its capacity. In such cases, if your EDB files gets damaged you have to go for EDB repair applications. Such applications has been especially designed to scan complete database and extracts other inaccessible objects such as contacts, emails, personal folders, calendar etc.

These applications are easy to use and do not demand sound technical skills among the users. Moreover, the non-destructive and read-only nature of the software makes it completely safe and as such you can easily overcome corruption due to Compressed NTFS volume. Corrupted EDB repair applications are compatible with Exchange Server 2003, 5.5 and 2000. The software supports Windows 2000, XP and 2003 and has a user-friendly interface.
