What to do after getting Exchange reported error 0x8004010f

Are you getting error 0x8004010f outlook Operation failed an object could not be found when you are trying to synchronize the offline address list running Exchange server 2007 in MS Outlook 2003. The full description of the error message appears to be similar to this:

“Microsoft Exchange offline address book not downloading Offline address book files. A server (URL) could not be located. 0X8004010F”

Or

“Task reported error (0x8004010F): ‘The operation failed. An object cannot be found.’

Cause:

Exchange reported error 0x8004010f occur when the outlook client system is configured to use proxy settings at the time of using Internet Explorer. Another reason can be the missing address listing in offline address book or the corrupted OST files.

Solution:

In order to fix outlook operation failed error, go through the following resolutions:

  1. Open Internet Explorer and then go to Tools->Internet Options. There, under the Connections tab click on LAN settings. Clear the Bypass proxy server for local addresses check box to make a click on the advanced option. In the displayed window, type FQDN of Exchange 2007 CAS server and after making all these operations restart Outlook.
  2. You need to also rebuild the default offline folders to download it on the client’s system by following the below steps: Go to Offline Address Lists in Exchange System Manager and then right click the Default Offline Address Book to select Rebuild option. After this, you need to download the newly created offline address book to the client’s system. For this, go to Tools->Send-Receive->Download Address Book

But if the above solutions do not prove to be useful one to fix Exchange reported error 0x8004010f, then you must consider repairing your damaged OST files with OST repair tool which is competent enough to repair the corrupt PST files and convert them to PST files for further use.
